Election cycles are known for being heated, divisive times, from which someone like myself apparently tries to escape by consuming obscure films that might be so bad they're good. One such movie is White Cargo, a hilariously strange 1942 picture starring Hedy Lamarr as simplistic local seductress Tondelayo. So to take off some of the 2020 election stress, I asked myself—what if Tondelayo ran for president? What might her campaign posters look like? Inspired by classic poster design, and eager to whip some of her most memorable lines into slogans, I created these two lighthearted homages to that necessary evil of democracy—the political campaign.
